The Story of a Photographer

Hi my name is Nico and I’m so excited you’re here! This page will help you get to know some things about me like: I have a dog named Norman, I studied journalism in college, I love steak, and I collect travel magnets. My goals in life are to swim with whales and to take a photo that will one day make an impact in the world. 

I’ve been taking photos since middle school when I started with those cute little flip phones, but didn’t start doing it professionally until 2014 (with actual cameras this time!). I am based in the Portland, Oregon area but am available for travel. I love to dabble in everything and have experience from weddings to street photography, journalistic events to portraits. I have been published in publications such as Oregon Bride Magazine and The Asian Reporter. 

If I had to describe my photography style, I would say it's emotional, I am a Cancer after all. While I find dramatic and bold posed images fun, natural and candid photos are my jam. Capturing special moments in time is what made me fall in love with photography and is actually how Lumae Photography got its name (the word lumae is a play off the Elvish word lume for “time”).
